Surbhi Kakar

Hatha - and Vinyasa Yoga teacher at Yoga Minds in Amstelveen.
Dear Yogis, Happy to see you here. I began my yoga journey in India in 2017, where the rich traditions of yoga deeply influenced my practice. Recently, in 2024, I completed my Yoga Teacher Training at Yoga Minds, specializing in Hatha and Vinyasa yoga. This path has been both challenging and beautiful, shaping my understanding of yoga as more than just a practice for physical health.
For me yoga transcends the mat. It is a union with my true self. Whether I’m engaging in a Virabhadrasana or tapping into my inner warrior.
For me, yoga transcends the mat; it is a union with my true self. Whether I’m engaging in a physical Virabhadrasana (Warrior Pose) or tapping into my inner spiritual warrior, yoga helps me connect with my emotions, thoughts, and body. It teaches me to arrive in the present moment and to release the desire to seek anything. I’ve learned that yoga can take on different forms at different times for the same individual, and that these definitions may evolve, which I believe is a beautiful part of the journey.
The inspiration to become a yoga teacher came from one of my own teachers at a yoga academy. To me, being a yoga teacher is about nurturing the seeds of awareness in others, helping them explore who they are. In my classes, I integrate teachings from yoga scriptures, body awareness, and mindfulness to guide students towards self-awareness.
In addition to my yoga journey, I have a Ph.D. in Computer Science and work as a Data Scientist. Driven by my passion for self-discovery, I also authored a book titled The Dancing Leaf. I look forward to meeting you in the studio, where we can share our energies and move together towards union with our true selves.
